Arena
Yes. You’re welcome to bring and use your own peripherals.
Please return and reconnect any arena equipment or cables you unplug before leaving.
Yes. Food and drinks are allowed, but please be careful and clean up any spills or trash to help keep the arena in top condition.
Not at this time. The arena is open on a first-come, first-served basis.
The arena is open to everyone.
However, minors (under 18) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Yes. Each station includes Logitech peripherals for use at no extra cost.
A limited number of cables (such as phone chargers) can be checked out at the front desk with a valid ID.
Yes. The UC Irvine Esports Arena is open to the public.
We’re open 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., seven days a week, excluding campus holidays.
Playtime rates are:
- $5 per hour, or
- $20 per week for unlimited access
UC Irvine students receive one free hour of play per week.
We accept credit and debit cards only. Cash is not accepted at this time.
Yes. You must create an account in the arena before playing.
UC Irvine students can log in using their UC Irvine credentials.
When you visit the arena for the first time, simply sit at an available computer and follow the on-screen instructions to create your account.
Yes. When you log in to games using your personal credentials, your progress and settings are saved to your own account.
Each station features:
- NZXT Player 2 Prime PCs
- AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800X processor
- NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 Ti graphics
- 32 GB memory
All setups include Logitech peripherals and high-performance monitors.
No. Group or party rates are not available at this time.
Not currently. Event and tournament reservations are not available at this time.
Yes. The arena has access to UC Irvine Wi-Fi, available throughout campus.
Yes. Personal photography and video recording are welcome.
Commercial filming requires a UC Irvine film permit and may include associated fees.
Teams
Tryouts typically take place early in the fall quarter.
Exact dates and details are announced on the UC Irvine Esports website and social media channels.
UC Irvine Esports recruits elite student-athletes who demonstrate both competitive excellence and strong academic performance.
Prospective students interested in joining should apply to UC Irvine in November, when admissions applications open.
We look for esports athletes who demonstrate:
- A high in-game rank (top 1%)
- Competitive team experience
- A strong academic record and commitment to student success

Yes. All team members must be enrolled UC Irvine students to compete and participate in official tryouts.
You’ll need to demonstrate exceptional in-game performance and rank among the top players at UC Irvine in your specific role.
Prior competitive experience and teamwork skills are also highly valued.
Teams are selected based on tryout performance, evaluated by the coaching staff and UC Irvine Esports Director.
Official rosters are announced on social media and posted on the UC Irvine Esports website.
UC Irvine currently fields varsity teams in:
- League of Legends
- VALORANT
Student-athletes dedicate about 15 hours per week to team activities during the season, which include practices, matches, and meetings.
Additional individual practice time is expected outside of scheduled sessions.
Yes. UC Irvine Esports athletes receive partial scholarships of either $3,000 or $6,000 per year, distributed through UC Irvine Financial Aid.
Select matches are streamed live on Twitch.

Jobs and Involvement

Student employment opportunities may include:
- Arena Staff – shifts available as part of the Student Center Operations team.
- Social Media Specialists – support Esports’ digital presence and content creation.
- Team Managers – currently one position each for League of Legends and VALORANT.
No. All positions are paid student employment opportunities.
Students may work:
- Up to 19.5 hours per week during the academic year.
- Up to 40 hours per week during winter recess, spring break, and summer.
Yes!
Students interested in content creation or marketing can apply for roles with the Student Center Marketing Team or as Esports Social Media Specialists.

Event Staff positions are managed by Student Center & Event Services. Look for openings under Operations Crew.
Shifts are assigned based on event needs—some may include Esports Arena support, though placement is not guaranteed.
