UCI eSports would like to announce that our mid laner, Youngbin Jung, has joined Team Liquid to play AD Carry for them in the North American League Championship Series starting this weekend. Youngbin has experience with Team Liquid, having played for Team Liquid Academy, their challenger team, in 2016. Youngbin will replace Piglet as ADC as Piglet moves to replace their current mid laner, Goldenglue.
“He’ll always be a member of the Anteater family.”
Acting Director of UCI eSports, Mark Deppe, said of the transition, “We wish Youngbin the best as he pursues his dream of playing in the LCS and competing at the highest level in North America. While we’re sad to lose a key member of our team, we thank him for his time at UCI and will be cheering for him and Team Liquid. He’ll always be a member of the Anteater family.”
UCI’s Team Manager, Matt Akhavan, added, “UCI eSports supports players who want to make the transition to the professional level. As with top traditional collegiate sports programs, recruiting the best players means that we may lose some to the professional ranks. It’s a good problem to have.”
Replacing Youngbin on UCI’s Gold Team will be freshman mid laner, Jeffrey “Descraton” Du. Jeffrey has helped lead UCI’s Blue Team to a perfect 7-0 record in Division 2 of the Collegiate Starleague (CSL) and a recent championship at UCSD’s Winter GameFest. The Blue Team will add UCI junior Dan “Danman” Albornoz to the roster to compete in the playoffs for CSL.
